On November 8, 2025, the National University of Agriculture (UNA-Benin) held a capacity-building workshop in the Adimalon Hall on the Sakรฉtรฉ campus for faculty and administrative staff from UNA, the University of Parakou (UP), the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC), and the Adja-Ouรจrรจ Agricultural Technical High School (LTA AO), the Mรจdji Agricultural Technical High School in Sรฉkou, and the Ina Agricultural Technical High School. This initiative is part of the #TAGDEV 2.0 program in collaboration with the RUFORUM Network and the Mastercard Foundation.

Chaired by the Rector of UNA, Prof. Agossou Bruno DJOSSA, and coordinated by Prof. Flora Chadarรฉ, the event focused on the theme: โ€œTransformative Education: Experiential Learning, Enlightened Leadership in Education, Adaptive and Gender-Sensitive Pedagogy, and Entrepreneurship.โ€

In her welcome remarks, Prof. Flora Chadarรฉ, coordinator of the TAGDev 2.0 program at UNA, outlined the trainingโ€™s objectives: to equip stakeholders in the agricultural education system with innovative teaching skills to promote student-centered and practice-oriented learning. Prof. Christine Ouinsavi of UP praised this joint initiative, which brings together energy and co-creation, before encouraging participants to make the most of the training. The Rector, Prof. Bruno DJOSSA, then officially launched the workshop, commending the commitment of the teachers and administrators.

The discussions were opened by Professor Bruno DJOSSA on the topic: โ€œIntroduction to Transformative Education and Experiential Learning Based on Kolbโ€™s Model.โ€ He highlighted the need for an educational model grounded in experience, innovation, and the active participation of learners. Dr. Hippolyte Sessou then spoke on enlightened leadership in education and entrepreneurship, encouraging participants to adopt an approach capable of inspiring change and developing entrepreneurial skills among young people. Dr. Rodrigue Idohou, for his part, presented a paper on adaptive and gender-sensitive pedagogy, emphasizing the importance of taking learnersโ€™ specific needs into account in teaching approaches.

Group work designed to explore the practical application of the concepts discussed. These collaborative discussions led to recommendations for integrating transformative approaches into the teaching practices of agricultural institutions.
Participants left convinced of the need for a more interactive, inclusive educational approach focused on developing practical skills.
